Глагол " to be"
( The Verb “to be”)
Значение этого глагола - " быть, находиться". В отличие от других английских глаголов, глагол " to be" спрягается (т. е. изменяется по лицам и числам):

Оборот “ There is”/ “There are”
There’s a man on the roof. / There are seven days in a week.
Singular: There is… (there’s)
There is not… (there isn’t or there’s not)
Is there…?
Plural: There are…
There are not… (there aren’t)
Are there…?
Compare there is and it is:
There is a train at 10. 30. It’s a fast train. (it = the 10. 30 train)
