L: How is your steak?

CONVERSATION PRACTICE

1. Read and translate the dialogue.

Buying Food

Customer: Could I have a kilo of onions, please?

Shop assistant: Right.

Customer: And have you got any peaches?

Shop assistant: Yes. How many would you like?

Customer: I’d like four, please. Are they ripe?

Shop assistant: Yes, they are lovely. Anything else?

Customer: I’d like some cheese, please.

Shop assistant: Sure. What would you like?

Customer: Oh, that Brie looks nice.

Shop assistant: Yes, it is. How much would you like?

Customer: About 200 grams.

Shop assistant: OK. Anything else?

Customer: No, that’s it, thanks.

 

At the Ladies Wear Department

Shop assistant: May I help you?

Customer: Yes, I’m looking for a blouse.

Shop assistant: What’s your size?

Customer: I wear size 10. Could you show me some blouses in solid colour?

Shop assistant: What colour do you want?

Customer: Yellow and white.

Shop assistant: They are over there.

Customer: What’s the material?

Shop assistant: It’s fifty percent polyester. It’s the latest style.

Customer: This white blouse looks nice. I’d like to try it on. Where’s the fitting room?

Shop assistant: The fitting room is to your left.

Customer: I think this blouse is all right. I’ll take it.

Shop assistant: Very well, madam. You can pay at the cash desk.

Customer: Thank you.

Shop assistant: How would you like to pay?
