«My apartment»
My apartment is located in the heart of the town. I live in a five-storeyed house on the fifth floor. As you understand, this is the top floor of the house, therefore the building has an elevator. I take it (a lift) very rarely, because I believe that it’s of no use to young people. But for old people to do without a lift would be a problem.When you find yourself on the fifth floor, turn left and you will see the apartment number 55. That’s where my dwelling is. It has absolutely all conveniences - from gas, heating to electricity and hot water. Despite the fact that the building looks a little neglected, my apartment is very cozy and bright. The interior of the apartment is modern and at the same time elegant. The windows look out on the garden and a small lake can be seen from afar.

«My room»
It has been 2 years since I lived in the mansion of my grandfather. I adore living in country houses because only this way you can feel a connection with nature, revive energy and rest from the bustling cities.Driving up to the house, you notice the green hedge. Going through the gate, you can see the path, flowerbeds and bright lawns. At the entrance you can see the veranda where we often gather with friends to have a rest and chat.
My room is on the second floor of the mansion. One storey above there’s an attic and one storey down there’s a living-room and a room of my grandfather. On the whole the mansion can accommodate 10 persons. It has 7 bedrooms and 2 kitchens. Every second bedroom has a bathroom.

«Days of the week (My plans)»
My name is Dima. I am 10 years old and I live with my parents in a big city. Today I want to tell you about my plans for a week.
As I’m in the fourth form (grade), from Mondays through Friday I usually go to school. As a rule, on Monday I’m very reluctant to attend school because after idling about on weekends it’s too hard to start working again. So Monday is not an easy day for me due to Monday feeling that I often have.
On Tuesday I am very busy. After school I have to attend acting classes, after that I walk back home, have dinner and sit at my desk to do homework. It takes 1-2 hours to finish my homework. Afterwards I go to bed at 10 pm.
On Wednesdays I’m not as busy as on Tuesday. I don’t have any additional lessons according to my timetable. I am fully free. I can do whatever I want. On this day I often play football with my brother and go to the cinema.

«My household duties»
At the present I go to school, so I'm very busy on weekdays. Because of this, unfortunately, I can't help in the house as often as my parents wish. However, I do my best to find the time to clean house.Every morning I get up and without any loss of time, I do my bed and go to the bathroom. Yawning, I wash my face, then I brush my teeth and go to have breakfast. After breakfast, I always wash the dishes myself after me and my family, because my mom and dad leave for work before me. They have no time to wash the dishes.
At 8 o'clock sharp, I make my way to the school and at 4 on the dot I come back home. On my return, I cook something easy so that I might eat, and then I get down to the lessons. Lessons take me from half an hour to two hours a day. It all depends on how much homework our teacher gives to us. Then I put all the books and notebooks into place and start cleaning my room. Every day I dust. Every other day I vacuum. Sometimes in the evening we go shopping together with dad.

«How I spent winter holidays»
My winter vacation passed wonderfully. This year heavy snow covered the ground, so there was no time to get bored. Together with friends we drove in a sleigh, made snowmen, played snowballs and just had fun. In the evening I watched TV, talked on the phone with friends and occasionally played on the computer.
The second week my family took me to a winter resort. I don’t ski very well, so it was hard in the beginning to learn how to ski down mountain slopes. But the next day, I learned to keep balance and fell to the ground only a few times. At a ski resort we spent 4 days. During this period I managed to make friends and girlfriends, with whom now I keep in touch and correspond through the internet. We hope to see one another again at the same place next year.

Every man has his own preferences – «tasted differ». Each of us is carried away by occupations that we choose according to our wishes. Some people like going for sports, but some doesn’t. Someone would love to embroider, someone considers embroidery tedious and boring.

«Clothes»
Clothes play a big role in our life. We wear clothes to differ from others, showing our innodividuality. Fashion is constantly changing, so everyone chooses his own style. And this style may be both in vogue and out of fashion. But it doesn’t matter as long as a person likes it.
We can wear whatever we want. But this rule applies only to home clothing. When we are within a society, we must adhere to some limits. Especially it refers to school clothes or as they say – school uniform. In most countries uniforms are mandatory.
For example, in England. All girls and boys are required to wear a particular uniform. If you see a pupil attired in blue, know for sure that this person comes from England. However, for the past years every school in England may change rules. Pupils are allowed to wear shorts (in summer) and sweaters (if it’s cold). For the most part pupils wear trousers, skirts (only girls), shirts, blouses, blazers and dresses (also for girls). Strangely enough, but boys and girls should wear a tie as well.

«Food»
Food is an important substance for human organism. It mainly consists of proteins, fats and carbohydrates. Besides these three nutritive materials, food can also be nodivided into 2 groups – meals of plant origin and meals of animal origin.
The first group (plant meals) is everything that grows out of our earth. First of all these are vegetables. Vegetables have a tiny amount of calories and are very rich in fiber. Certainly fruit is there where vegetable is. Comparing with veggies, fruit is more dangerous for one's figure, because any fruit is primarily a carbohydrate product. In this respect an intake of fruits doesn’t have to exceed 500-700 grams per day. Any seeds are also included in our list – legumes and cereals.

I love animals, so I’ve got a lot of them. Someone’s hobby is collecting stamps, doing exercises, drawing or learning foreign languages. Animals are my hobby. I like to look after them, feed and just watch them. I believe that animals bring us happiness and positive emotions. This, in its turn, has a positive effect on our moral and psychological state.
So let me tell you more about my pets. In my house you will find two dogs and one cat, aquarium with fish and two hamsters. Most of all I love dogs, but my mom loves cats. My brother is a very reserved person by character, so he keeps fish, but my sister loves hamsters. As for dad, his love is sufficient for all the animals. He, just like me, doesn’t mind playing with any pet in our house.

«School years»
School years are the most amazing years in life of every person. Strict and lenient teachers, difficult and easy subjects and of course holidays – all these things will never slip our memory. Although most of pupils go to school reluctantly, in the future they will probably have a strong desire to return those days of joy and lightheartedness. So, let’s remember what the ordinary school days of pupils are.
Every time a teacher goes into the classroom she always asks the same questions. They sound as follows: “Who is on duty?” and “Who is a monitor?”. Then she usually demands to show the written homework and hears a lesson. That’s how teachers check the knowledge of the pupils. If somebody didn’t learn the subject, she would open a record book and give bad marks to the ones who can’t recite a lesson. Filling in the record book, she asks “Who is absent?” and then wonders why this pupil missed the classes and didn’t attend school. There are two versions: either he or she just plays truant or a pupil just fell ill.

TV-set has become a part of our lives many years ago. Watching TV, we learn a lot of information. The most important information coming from TV is certainly news. Thanks to the news we keep track of events of both domestic and foreign policy. However, not all programs are of use to us. Probably on the contrary - they only hamper our development, making us weak and inactive. Therefore, it’s impossible to say that TV is 100% boon.
So “the idiot box" with TV shows, does it do more good or harm? Giving a clear answer is impossible. What will happen if we don't turn on TV at all? We won’t be aware of what is going on in the world and in the country. You can, of course, learn the news through the Internet, but there aren’t many people who are used to doing so. «Where I live»
As they say, “My house is my castle”. Pronouncing these words we don’t imply something elegant and luxurious. In this case money doesn’t matter. Sometimes you enter a house with golden chandeliers, wooden tables and genuine paintings and feel that something is wrong and something is missing (wanting). And the reason of it is clear. The treasure of any house is its coziness, family hearth and hospitality. Therefore today I would like to tell you a little about the place where I live.
My family lives in the suburbs of town and possesses a two-storied house near the river. It’s hard to say whether our house is large or small. But our ground area is big and spacious. We run and play, swing on the swings and make barbecue with my friends there. Recently my father has built a house on the tree. In the park
The park is my favorite resting place. The park is a good place for both the growns-up, the elderly and children. In the park you can not only rest outdoors, but also have fun and amuse yourself.
I have a pretty big family; it comprises mom, dad, two grandfathers and two grandmothers. I'm not the only child in the family. There are four of us - three girls and one boy. It is not difficult to understand that this boy is me. My name is Dennis and I am 14 years old. All my sisters are younger than me, so I'm the oldest in the family. My favorite book
My favorite book is "The Old Man and the Sea" by Ernest Hemingway. This story is one of the well-known works of the writer. The author depicts the characters of the old man and the boy and their relations very vividly and skillfully. Santiago, the old man, was one of the writer's beloved characters. The old man was a born fisherman, but he was not a butcher and fished only for a living. He was very lonely. He had a devoted friend - the boy, Manolin. The boy loved the old man for his kind heart, his devotion to the sea. Manolin was like a son to Santiago. He took care of the old man's food and his belongings. The old man was glad to pass his experience to the boy. He looked forward to going to the sea together with the boy. All Santiago's life had been in preparation for the battle with big fish. He knew that he had been born for this and it was time to prove it. A strong man at last had met a strong fish. The battle was a difficult one and full of danger. Though the sharks had eaten the fish and nothing had left but the backbone, the old man had morally won the battle. Santiago's words "man can be destroyed but not defeated" are the main idea of this story. "The Old Man and the Sea" is a masterpiece for its imaginative language and the description of nature.

We, humans, live on the Earth. And our planet Earth is surrounded by space. The sky is what we see of space. There are billions of stars and probably billions of other planets moving through space. Our planet is moving through space too. We live on the surface of our planet Earth. Gravity keeps us here on the Earth. Gravity is an invisible force that pulls things and people toward the center of the Earth. All the other planets, stars and moons have gravity too. Without gravity we would float away into space. The Sun lights up the Earth. The Earth turns around each day. The half of the Earth turned away from the Sun is dark. On that half of the Earth it is night. The half of the Earth turned toward the Sun is light. On that half it is daytime. We, humans beings, have always wanted to know what is out in space.

American Symbols
The American flag is often called "The Stars and Stripes", it is also called "Old Glory". It represents the growth of the nation. The national anthem of the United States is "The Star Spangled Banner".
The words written during the Anglo-American war of 18X2-1814and set to the music of an old song. Every state has its own flag, its own emblem and its own anthem too.
The eagle became the national emblem of the country in 1782. It has an olive branch (a symbol of peace) and arrows (a symbol of strength). You can see the eagle on the back of a dollar bill.
