| First of all, let us try to understand, what the global economy is? Owing to the growth of the international trade in goods and services, capital flows, and development of business relationship between companies, worldwide integration and interdependence is now a fact of life. This is globalization of economy. We can be reasonably confident that globalization will characterize the future, generally, because it has already existed. | Прежде всего, давайте попробуем понять, что такое мировая экономика? | Economists are tending to view globalization as a positive phenomenon in a long term. However, few of them would argue that its short run consequences, particularly for some economic groups, are likely to be extremely painful. Here I would like to underline that if this problem is ignored and little is done about it, the neglect won’t be easy to dispute. Moreover, even if globalization’s consequences include increased productivity, there is no guarantee that wealth and income will arise everywhere. | Экономисты склонны рассматривать глобализацию, как положительное явление в долгосрочной перспективе. | Nevertheless, for all of its many problems, globalization is worth pursuing as a way to raise the world’s living standards. Firstly, the evident prospect is changes of the impact of time and distance factors. The international entrepreneurship, as it is known, is connected with overcoming long distances. Progressive high technologies enable to save considerable amount of time and costs on information transfer, goods transportation and people’s movement. The achievements in the communication sphere, for example, satellites accelerate international interaction and intensify control over them. | Тем не менее, несмотря на многочисленные проблемы, глобализация вполне оправдана, как способ повышения мировых стандартов жизни. Во-первых, очевидна перспектива изменения влияния факторов времени и расстояния. Международное предпринимательство, как известно, связано с преодолением больших расстояний. | Secondly, the fast information exchange regarding new products leads to growth of sales volume in foreign markets. Due to the technical innovations there is an opportunity to build up production in different countries. It means that there will be new working places and unemployment will probably decrease. | Во-вторых, быстрый обмен информацией о новых продуктах приводит к росту объема продаж на зарубежных рынках. Из-за технических инноваций есть возможность наращивать производство в различных странах. Это означает, что будут новые рабочие места и безработица, вероятно, сократится. |
| Besides, I believe that as a result of the world market expansion, the quality of goods may increase, but the prices will go down. | Кроме того, я считаю, что в результате расширения мирового рынка, качество товаров может улучшиться, а цены пойдут вниз. |
| In addition to the above said, the important prospect of economic globalization is the global change of competition. Elimination of trade barriers means that there will be a decrease in national manufacturing and dominance of transnational production. Thus, small national companies won’t be able to survive whereas large ones will have an opportunity to develop globally. | В дополнение к сказанному, важной перспективой экономической глобализации является глобальное изменение конкуренции. Устранение торговых барьеров означает, что будет снижение отечественной промышленности и господство транснационального производства. | To sum up, I’m sure that these positive prospects will enable to get over the difficulties associated with unequal distribution of wealth. THE ECONOMIC ENVIRONMENT

The economy comprises millions of people and thousands of firms as well as the government and local authorities, all taking decisions about prices and wages, what to buy, sell, produce, export, import and many other matters. All these organizations and the decisions they take play a prominent part in shaping the business environment in which firms exist and operate.
The economy is complicated and difficult to control and predict, but it is certainly important to all businesses. You should be aware that there are times when businesses and individuals have plenty of funds to spend and there are times when they have to cut back on their spending. This can have enormous implications for business as a whole.

When the economy is enjoying a boom, firms experience high sales and general prosperity. At such times, unemployment is low and many firms will be investing funds to enable them to produce more. They do this because consumers have plenty of money to spend and firms expect high sales. It naturally follows that the state of the economy is a major factor in the success of firms.
However, during periods when people have less to spend many firms face hard times as their sales fall. Thus, the economic environment alters as the economy moves into a recession. At that time, total spending declines as income falls and unemployment rises. Consumers will purchase cheaper items and cut expenditure on luxury items such as televisions and cars.
Changes in the state of the economy affect all types of business, though the extent to which they are affected varies. In the recession of the early 1990s the high street banks suffered badly. Profits declined and, in some cases, losses were incurred. This was because fewer people borrowed money from banks, thus denying them the opportunity to earn interest on loans, and a rising proportion of those who did borrow defaulted on repayment. These so-called "bad debts" cut profit margins substantially. Various forecasters reckoned that the National Westminster Bank's losses in the case of Robert Maxwell's collapsing business empire amounted to over £100 million.
No individual firm has the ability to control this aspect of its environment. Rather, it is the outcome of the actions of all the groups who make up society as well as being influenced by the actions of foreigners with whom the nation has dealings.

Экономика вбирает в себя миллионы людей, тысячи фирм, а также правительства стран и местные органы власти, урегулирование цен и зарплат, покупку, продажу, производство, экспорт, импорт и многое другое. Все эти организации и решения, которые они принимают, играют значительную роль в формировании экономической среды, в которой организации существуют и работают.
Экономика сложна и трудно поддается контролю и прогнозированию, но она несомненно важна для всего бизнеса. Нужно осознавать, что бывают моменты, когда фирмы и люди имеют большие капиталы для расходов, и бывают времена, когда они должны сокращать свои траты. Это имеет большое значение для всего бизнеса.
Когда экономика испытывает рост, фирмы хорошо продают и, в общем, развиваются. В такие времена низка безработица и фирмы вкладывают капиталы в увеличение производства. Они делают это, потому что у потребителей много денег и у фирм хорошие продажи. Естественно отсюда следует вывод, что состояние экономики это главный фактор для успеха фирм.

Однако в периоды, когда люди вынуждены тратить меньше, фирмы переживают трудные времена и их продажи падают. Таким образом, экономическая среда изменяется со спадом экономики. В это же время вместе с падением прибыли снижаются общие расходы, растёт безработица. Потребители покупают более дешёвые товары, сокращается потребление дорогой продукции, такой как телевизоры или автомобили.
Изменения в состоянии экономики затрагивают все виды бизнеса, хотя степень воздействия на разный бизнес различается. Спад начала 1990-х годов крупные банки пережили тяжело. Прибыли снизились, что привело в некоторых случаях к потерям. Это произошло, потому что меньше людей заимствовали деньги у банков, таким образом, уменьшилась возможность зарабатывания ими прибыли на ссудные деньги, и увеличилось количество неплательщиков по займам. экономической среды. Скорее, это результат действия всех групп составляющих общество, а так же под влиянием действия иностранцев с которыми нация имеет деловые связи.
