1. Translate the following words: to prevent, health, feed, additives, vaccina­tion, drug, determination, meat, pills, powder, paste, liquid, throat, feed, horses, worms, syringe, injection, intravenous, a vein, intramuscular, intradermal, skin, intraruminal, ru­men, intraperitoneal, blood.

 

2. Find the correspondences:

pills These drugs are normally mixed in the feed or water of the animal.
powders The preparation is placed on the back of the horse's tongue with a caulking gun, and the horse is forced to swallow.
paste These drugs administered orally (by mouth) are often placed directly in the animal's stomach by drenching.
liquids   The procedure for giving it to an ani­mal is to restrain the animal and lift its head so that the mouth opens.

 

3. Read the texts and find the sentences with Present Perfect Active and Present Perfect Passive tense forms. Translate them into your language (см. Приложение 12-15):

A) Nina was a vet doctor, she has lived in Sydney for two years. She has done a lot of things in Sydney. She has seen several plays, she has gone to the picture galleries and museums. She has visited the circus as well, and she has taken a tour to the Islands on Port Jackson. However, there are a lot of planned things she hasn’t done yet. She hasn’t gone to the Australian Reptile Park yet. Nina hasn’t been to some other parks yet.

B) The boss is angry with his secretary today because important letters haven’t been typed yet. Tea has been given to him cold. Wrong telephone numbers have been written down. The mail hasn’t been sent in time. A lot of time has been spent over the telephone.

    4. Change the sentences with Present Perfect Active into Present Perfect Passive.

There is a number of activities and procedures that are used to prevent and treat health problems found in animals. Some of these include administering drugs, dipping, and restrain­ing animals. The role of feed additives and vaccina­tion will also be explored. Vaccination is the injec­tion of an agent into an animal to prevent disease.
