(from the top of the inner tube, with the inner tube fully com-pressed and without the fork spring)

 

Mm (4.29 in) Recommended oil

Fork oil 7.5 W or equivalent

 

NOTE:

While filling the front fork leg, keep it upright. After filling, slowly pump the front fork leg up and down to distribute the fork oil.

Т cap bolt

 

NOTE:

У Install the spring with the smaller pitch facing up.

 

У Before installing the cap bolt, lubricate its O-ring with grease.

У Temporarily tighten the cap bolt.

The following procedure applies to both of the front fork legs.

 

Ф Install:

NOTE:

Pull up the inner tube until it stops.

 

 

Х Tighten:

 

lower bracket pinch bolt 1

  T.R. 23 Nm (2.3 m · kg, 17 ft · lb)
• cap bolt 2 T.R. 24 Nm (2.4 m · kg, 17 ft · lb)
• upper bracket pinch bolt 3
  T.R. 30 Nm (3.0 m · kg, 22 ft · lb)

REMOVING THE LOWER BRACKET

 

1. Stand the scooter on a level surface.

 

WARNING

Securely support the scooter so that there is no danger of it falling over.

Ц Remove:

 

lock washer 1

 

upper ring nut 2

 

rubber washer 3

 

lower ring nut 4

 

(with the steering nut wrench)

Ring nut wrench 90890-01268, YU-01268

 

WARNING

Securely support the lower bracket so that there is no danger of it falling.

CHECKING THE STEERING HEAD

Recommended cleaning solvent

Kerosine

 

 

Ш Check:

bearing races 2 Damage/pitting → Replace.

Ы Remove the bearing races from the steering head pipe with a long rod 1 and hammer.

Ы Remove the bearing race from the lower bracket with a floor chisel 2 and hammer.

 

Ы Install a new rubber seal and new bearing races.

 

CAUTION:

If the bearing race is not installed properly, the steering head pipe could be damaged.

NOTE:

ЬAlways replace the bearings and bearing races as a set.

 

ЬWhenever the steering head is disassem-bled, replace the rubber seal.
