A грузовик is a motor автомобиль for transporting goods. The word грузовик comes from the Greek “trochos”, meaning “колесо”. In America, the big колеса of wagons (повозки) were called trucks. When petrol двигатель driven trucks came into use, they were called “motortrucks”. Slowly the word “двигатель” in front of “truck” disappeared.
