Wicked (17 aug 2005. Broadway. Cast: Shoshana Bean, Megan Hilty, Ben Vereen, David Ayers, Adinah Alexander (u/s), Megan Sikora (u/s), Jeffrey Kuhn, Sean McCourt. About five minutes worth of cover-ups at the beginning (you see Glinda's entrance) because of latecomers and few more random ones during the first Act. The first few minutes of the second Act are similar to those of Act One. No obstructions, incredible close-ups. Quality: A-)

 

Wicked (May 2006. First National Tour. Cast: Victoria Matlock (u/s Elphaba), Kendra Kassebaum, Nicolas Dromard (u/s Fieyero), Jennifer Waldman, Alma Cuervo, PJ Benjamin. Proshot from in-house camera. Mid-stage shot, so stage fills the entire screen. Amazing to watch, with hardly any spotlight washout and vibrant colors, with great clear sound. This video has no zooms so you can appreciate the amazing lighting and sets Wicked has to offer. Quality: A-)

Wicked (8 oct 2006. Broadway. Cast: Eden Espinosa, Kate Reinders, David Garrison, Carol Kane, Derrick Williams, Jenna Leigh Green, Logan Lipton, Steven Skybell. Final performance by Eden as Elphaba. Filmed from the center mezz. No obstructions, lots of closeups, some spotlight washout. Video is very Eden focused. A couple brief coverups during " Something Bad", and during " No One Mourns". Includes the curtain call speech by Derrick Williams. Quality: B+)

Lisa did a very lovely job in the role, and she looked fabulous. Her Elphaba is sweet, which is nice and works for her. Beautiful capture and performances. Quality: A-)

 

Wicked (2 july 2007. Broadway. Cast: Caissie Levy (u/s Elphaba), Kendra Kassebaum, Sebastian Arcelus, David Garrison, Jayne Houdyshell, Cristy Candler, Logan Lipton. Caissie's first as Elphaba, and she tore it up and put it on a silver platter. Beautiful capture and vocals. Kendra is hilarious at this performance. Quality: A-)

First Performances of Block and Ashford. Beautifully captured and wonderful closeups, very good footage. Excellent performances all around, Stephanie commands the stage. Quality: A-)

Wicked (2 dec 2007. Los Angeles. Matinee. Cast: Eden Espinosa, Melissa Fahn (u/s Glinda), Carol Kane, John Rubinstein, Kristoffer Cusick, Jenna Leigh Green, Adam Wylie, Timothy Britten Parker. One of the few times Melissa has gone on and gives a nice performance. Eden is wonderful, as she usually is. Solid performances from most of the cast. A beautiful capture of this performance. Quality: A-)

A good capture of the final LA performance; first 13 minutes of the show (until Galinda introduces herself to Morrible) is blacked out except for one minute of video toward the end of NOMTW; a couple of heads in the way but it improves with some spotlight washout on wideshots; mostly medium shots but some closeups throughout; good sound. Quality: A-)

Wicked (29 march 2009. Fort Myers, FL. Cast: Marcie Dodd, Helene Yorke, Colin Donnell, Tom McGowan, Merilyn Caskey, Kristine Reese, Ted Ely, David DeVries. First couple minutes of each act are blacked out, but those are the only ones that last more than a few seconds. Head obstruction get annoying, but worked around well with a mix of wides, mediums, and closeups throughout the show. Little washout, sound is excellent throughout the show. Quality: A-. 2DVD)

Wicked (26 apr 2009, Matinee. San Francisco, CA. Cast: Vicki Noon (s/b Elphaba), Kendra Kassebaum, Nicolas Dromard, David Garrison, Patty Duke, Deedee Magno Hall, Eddy Rioseco, Tim Talman (u/s Dillamond). One head in the middle that blocks the actors' feet/legs sometimes, and there are heads on either side that pop into frame occasionally. First couple of minutes of each act are blacked out, and there are two long-ish blackouts. One is from the middle of What Is This Feeling till part way through the classroom scene. The other is the last couple minutes of the show. The video ends at " It's looking at things another way", and the rest of the finale is audio only. Quality: B+. 2DVD)

Some short blackouts during WITF, the Thrillifying News scene, and the beginning of WWOTE, but none lasts more than a minute. One head at the bottom center that gets in the way sometimes. A good capture of Jackie's run. Some heads at the bottom of the screen that block the very front of the stage, but rarely noticeable. One blackout for the first minute of What Is This Feeling? A bit shaky overall, but very watchable. Filmed with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups, some washout here and there, and the sound is excellent. Quality: A-. 2DVD)

Cast: Mandy Gonzalez, Laura Woyaz (s/b Glinda), Andy Karl, PJ Benjamin, Kathy Fitzgerald, Jenny Fellner, Etai Benshlomo, Tom Flynn, Michael DeVries, Kristen Leigh Gorski. Excellent capture of a solid cast; a couple minor drop outs, but overall the show is beautifully captured and very steady; one head that can be seen occasionally at the bottom of the screen, but it never blocks the action, and there's a little washout in some of the wides; filmed in 16: 9 with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups, and the sound excellent. Includes curtain call and BCEFA speech. Quality: A-. 2DVD)

 

Wicked (23 nov 2010. London. Cast: Rachel Tucker, Sarah Earnshaw (s/b Glinda), Lee Mead, Julie Legrand, Clive Carter, Cassandra Compton, Danny Mac (u/s Boq), Gareth Chart (u/s Dr. Dillamond). Some blackouts in the video; most notably, " One Short Day" is not included. Several shorter blackouts throughout the show; a short one during some dialogue in " No One Mourns the Wicked", a short one at the beginning of the " Dear Old Shiz" scene, a longer one during the end of " What Is This Feeling" + the beginning of the classroom scene, 2 minutes at the beginning of act 2, a couple of seconds during " Wonderful", the very beginning of the post-melting scene, and the very end of the same scene + the beginning of the finale. Video runs approx 2 hours long, so it's not the complete show. Act One is complete except it's missing the Lion Cub scene and the Train Station Scene due to battery problems. Act Two is missing a tiny bit of the scene right before " I'm Not That Girl" reprise and the video ends after " No Good Deed. " Okay video with a mix of full stage shots and closeups, some obstructions due to a pole. Quality: B+)
