The throttle body should not be disassem-bled.
EAS00912 CHECKING THE FUEL INJECTORS
О Check:
fuel injectors Damage → Replace.
EAS00913 CHECKING THE THROTTLE BODY
П Check:
throttle body
Cracks/damage → Replace the throttle body. П Check:
fuel passages Obstructions → Clean.

Р Wash the throttle body in a petroleum-based solvent.
Do not use any caustic carburetor cleaning solution.
Р Blow out all of the passages with com-
pressed air.

EAS00915 CHECKING THE FUEL PUMP OPERATION
С Check:
fuel pump operation
▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼ ▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼ ▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼
У Remove the seat, fuel tank cover and fuel hose connector cover.
Refer to “SEAT” and “FUEL TANK” in chap-ter 3.
7 - 27
Ф Disconnect the fuel hose 1 from the fuel pump.
CAUTION: Although the fuel has been removed from the fuel tank, be careful when removing the fuel hoses, since there may be fuel remain-ing in it. NOTE: Before removing the hoses, place a few rags in the area under where it will be removed.
Х Connect and the fuel pressure adapter 2 and the pressure gauge 3 to the fuel pump and fuel hose. Pressure gauge 90890-03153
Fuel pressure adapter 90890-03181
Ш Set the main switch to “ON” and the engine stop switch to “ ”.
Ш Start the engine.
Ш Measure the fuel pressure.
Out of specification → Check the fuel hose connection or replace the fuel pump. Fuel pressure 240 ~ 260 kPa (2.40 ~ 2.60 kgf/cm2, ~ 37.0 psi) Ъ Turn the main switch to “OFF”.
Ъ Remove the pressure gauge and fuel pres-sure adapter.
NOTE: Before removing the special tools, place a few rags in the area under where it will be removed. Ы Install the fuel hose.
Ы Install the fuel hose connector cover, fuel tank cover and seat.
Refer to “SEAT” and “FUEL TANK” in chap-
ter 3.

THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR
NOTE: Before adjusting the throttle position sensor, the engine idling speed should be properly adjusted.
Ь Check:
throttle position sensor
▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼ ▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼ ▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼
Э Disconnect the throttle position sensor cou-pler from the throttle position sensor.
Э Remove the throttle position sensor from the throttle body. Э Connect the pocket tester (Ω Ч 1k) to the terminals of the throttle position sensor.
Positive tester probe → blue terminal 1 Negative tester probe → black/blue terminal 2
Ю Measure the maximum throttle position sen-
sor resistance.
Out of specification → Replace the throttle position sensor. Maximum throttle position sensor resistance
4.0 ~ 6.0 k Ω at 20 °C (68 °F) (blue – black/blue)
Я Connect the pocket tester (Ω Ч 1k) to the terminals of the throttle position sensor.
Positive tester probe →
yellow terminal 3 Negative tester probe → black/blue terminal 2
А While slowly opening the throttle, check that the throttle position sensor resistance is within the specified range.
Resistance does not change or it changes abruptly → Replace the throttle position sensor.
The slot is worn or broken → Replace the throttle position sensor.
7 - 29
Х 1 B / L Y L NOTE: Check mainly that the resistance changes gradually when turning the throttle, since the readings (from closed to wide-open throttle) may differ slightly from those specified.
Throttle position sensor resis-tance
(0.52 ~ 0.9) ~ (4.0 ~ 6.0) k Ω at 20 °C (68 °F) (yellow – black/blue)
