Olga Steblova studies at Technological University. There are several areas of specialization at the University: Economics, Environment, Programming, Commerce, Engineering and many others. Olga gets the specialty of manager. She is a first-year student of full-time department. Besides day department there is also an extra-mural department for part-time students. The academic year starts in September and has two terms. At the end of each term students have session time and pass credit-tests and terminal exams. All the students get a grant. To enter the University the applicants must pass entrance exams and be in a good health. Entrance exams usually take place in August before the new academic year begins. The course of studies at the University runs for five years. The curriculum consists of social subjects, special subjects, PT lessons. Social subjects are subjects of social importance, such as history, literature, languages. Foreign language is a compulsory subject. Special subjects are the subjects of students’ professional specialty. According to the time-table students have lectures, seminars, practical lessons. All theoretical courses are supplemented with seminars. Students have classes six days a week. The lessons begin at half past 8 and last till 2 or 3 in the afternoon. In front of the University there is a big sports ground, where students have their classes in physical training. They also have different festivities here. Behind the buildings of the University there is a small garden with beautiful flowerbeds. The classrooms and laboratories are large and light. The labs are very well equipped and have all the devices for studying and making experiments in some subject fields. There are also computer classes, provided with modern computers. Students’ canteen is on the first floor. The University is not far from Olga’s house. It’s very convenient, because after classes the students can participate in extracurricular activities and Olga goes to the University in the evening to play volleyball. There are many other clubs and societies at the University too. If students are interested in research work, they may join some scientific society. There are many of them at the University. Students are sure to find something to their liking.
