Данное учебное пособие предназначено для студентов заочной формы обучения вузов нелингвистического профиля, изучающих иностранный язык по образовательным программам различных направлений бакалав­риата и магистратуры. Цель учебного пособия - обучение коммуника­тивным навыкам и умениям в чтении и интерпретации текстов быто­вой, общественно-политической и профессиональной направленности и подготовка к информационной и творческой деятельности в рамках межкультурной и профессиональной коммуникации.

ПРЕДИСЛОВИЕ

Изучаемый иностранный язык является обязательным общеобразовательным предметом. Цель обучения иностранному языку студентов заочной формы обучения в неязыковых вузах – обучение коммуника­тивным навыкам и умениям в чтении и интерпретации текстов быто­вой, общественно-политической и профессиональной направленности и подготовка к информационной и творческой деятельности в рамках межкультурной и профессиональной коммуникации. Студенты изучают дисциплину «Иностранный язык» по учебному пособию «Английский язык для бакалавров и магистров заочной формы обучения», доступному в библиотеке филиала СКФУ в г.Пятигорске.

В соответствии с Учебными планами выполнение контрольных работ по дисциплине «Иностранный язык» для бакалавров юридического факультета» предусмотрено в 1 и 2 год обучения.

Студенты работают во время сессии в аудитории и получают домашние задания для закрепления пройденного материала и самостоятельной работы в соответствии с рабочей программой.

Текущий контроль осуществляется в течение академических семестров в виде проверки домашних заданий, контрольных работ, устных опросов.

Промежуточный контроль имеет форму зачета или экзамена.

Зачет является накопительной формой отчетности и проставляется по результатам выполнения всех видов отчетностей, предусмотренных программой дисциплины.

По итогам экзамена выставляется оценка и он проводится в письменно-устной форме, включая в себя проверку качества сформированности следующих умений:

а) изучающего чтения (научно-популярный текст или профессионально ориентированный текст объемом до 2000 печ. зн., понимание которого проверяется в форме беседы с экзаменатором по его содержанию);

б) письменного перевода научно-популярного текста или профессионально ориентированного текста объемом 1000 печ. зн.);

в) подготовленной устной речи монологического характера (сообщение на одну из изученных тем, объем - не менее 15-20 фраз).

Время подготовки всех экзаменационных заданий – 60-70 мин.

Выполнение и оформление контрольной работы:

1. Каждая контрольная работа выполняется в тетради, на которой должны быть указаны: Ф.И.О., адрес, № зачетной книжки, № контрольной работы, № группы и курса.

2. Перед выполнением контрольной работы следует разделить развернутые листы тетради следующим образом:

3. Работа должна быть написана черными или синими чернилами, аккуратно, четким почерком. В тетради в клетку следует писать через строчку.

4. Выполнив контрольную работу, проверьте ее сами, обращая внимание на следующие моменты:

а) нет ли пропущенных заданий, предложений или слов;

б) нет ли орфографических ошибок, в иностранном и русском текстах;

в) проверьте стиль вашего перевода, обращая внимание на терминологию.

5. Если работа выполнена не в соответствии с указанными требованиями или не полностью, она возвращается без проверки.

Контрольная работа №1

Грамматический материал:

1) степени сравнения имен прилагательных;

2) местоимения: личные, притяжательные, указательные, неопределенные, отрицательные местоимения;

3) глагол: Present, Past, Future Indefinite,

4) глагол: Present, Past, Future Continuous.

III. Раскройте скобки, употребляя требующуюся форму прилагательного:

My name is Svetlana. I am 16 years old. I was born in Pyatigorsk, and still live here. My family is a small one. There are three of us in the family: my mother, my elder sister and me.

My mother is a manager of the firm. She is fond of her job. And in spite of the fact that, she is always busy she finds time to spend with us. We often spend evenings together. Sometimes we go to the cinema. I like films very much, and my favourite one is "Analyze that". It can seem strange, but I have seen it for many times and whenever I have a chance to watch it I don't miss it.

My sister's name is Natasha. She is already a student. She is 20. Natasha studies at the Institute of economy. I think she will become a good specialist. She studies a lot and she is an excellent student. I am so proud of her.

Natasha is tall and slim. But what I like most about her ap­pearance are the dimples on her cheeks. She has long black curly hair. She is very pretty.

Well, as my mother works very hard and has a lot of things to do, my sister and I try to help her about the house. So we share our house chores. I usually tidy up the rooms and sometimes cook something to eat. Frankly speaking, I am not very good at cook­ing, but my mother doesn't think so. Maybe she doesn't just tell me about it, because she doesn't want me to be disappointed. But I think that everything comes by experience. I am an optimist by nature.

Now let me tell you a little about my home. I think it doesn't matter what your home is like, anyway, it is the place where you once move in and start to furnish and decorate it to your own taste. It becomes your second "ego". So my second "ego" is not very big, but it is very comfortable. There is enough space for everything: a hall, a living-room, a couple of bedrooms and a bathroom.

Our living-room is very spacious. It is the heart of our apart­ment. It is the place where I can see the rest of my family. In the evening we sit here in the soft armchairs and on the sofa, which are on the right of the room. In front of them there is furniture stuffed with crystal and books. There is also a stereo system and a TV set.

I am very glad that I have my own room. My bedroom is my private area though it is also my sister's room. It is a small room, but very cosy. There are two beds, a desk, a personal computer, a big bookcase and a wardrobe in my room. There are some posters of my favourite pop stars on the walls which I change very often into new ones.

Our kitchen is not large. We have regular meals in the kitchen. There are some cupboards, a cooker, a fridge, a dishwasher, a microwave and a kitchen table with four chairs. There are also some plants in our kitchen on the window-sill which make our kitchen cosier.

Our hall is very big. There is a wardrobe, some book-shelves on the walls, a long rag on the floor, and a closet where we keep our shoes.

I like our home very much. Our building is quite close to the underground station and what is more important to my school.

As I am a sunny soul person by nature, I love to have fun, to laugh, to talk and I like people with a sense of humour as well. I think that humour is one of the most necessary things for people. It is such a feature of character that everyone of us must possess, because it helps us to live better, to survive, to go through our daily problems easier.

I think that every person has his beauty, though some people don't develop it. I mean the beauty of the soul, the interior beauty. And I believe that our beauty depends on our character, on our soul, on our deeds. For example, when we meet a person and we like his character, his behaviour, his actions we think that he is nice, and even if he doesn't have an attractive appearance we don't feel it and we like him. As for me I value faithfulness, kindness and intelligence about people. I think these qualities are very important for any kind of relationship between people. I judge people by their actions. I follow the proverb, "Actions speak louder than words".

Well, as I am a very communicative girl, 1 have many friends and I often spend with them my weekends. I like them all, but most of them Hove Julia. She is very slim, though she is not tall. She has a round face with very large and dark eyes, her nose is straight. My friend is a very nice girl with a charming smile.

I think that every person must have a close friend, a true friend, with whom he can share his ideas, problems, and he or she is always ready to listen to you and help you. As for Julia, I can always rely on her, she is a very reliable person and I am pretty sure she will never let me down. She has a good ear for music and we go to a musical school together. She wants to become a musi­cian, and I am sure she will be able to manage it, as she is a very purposeful girl.

Talking about hobbies, I would say that I am fond of reading. I can say I adore reading. My favourite writer is Remark, and my favourite book is "Three Friends" by Remark. I appreciate the friendship of these "three friends", their relationship, and how they care about each other and help each other out of the difficult situations. I think a good example of friendship is shown in this book. I also like dancing, and I dance much. I regard it as an essential part of myself, and I think it can be called a sort of a sport activity, as it helps me keep fit.

I also adore travelling. I think that it is a hobby of my dream. There are so many countries that I am eager to visit. I like nature and during my summer holidays I don't miss any chance to go to the country. And in the country I look forward to my coming back to the big city and going on my routine every day activities.

And talking about my daily routine I want to confess that it is not quite organized. And every Monday when I am awake I think I should start a new life. I honestly think that I must become well-organized and correct my daily routine. I make plans to go to keep fit classes, to do the cleaning and do hundred other good things. But then I remember that I have to call on my friend in the evening, and I put off my plans till next Monday. It is always better to start a new life in a week.
