The surprise guest was Andy Karl who sang a song from Groundhog Day. A beautiful concert with some unscripted fun moments. One of Broadway's most genuine stars, Kristin connects with such honesty through story and song. Quality: A-. 2DVD)

La Boheme (27 nov 2002. Dress rehearsal on Broadway. Cast: Alfred Boe, Wei Huang. Includes the intro by Baz Luhrmann addressing the audience at the rehearsal. Complete show including the extra-long scene changes between acts. Wonderful production! The sound gets a little choppy near the end of Act One. Quality: A-)

 

La Cage aux Folles (12 sept 1983. Broadway. Cast: Gene Barry - Georges, George Hearn - Albin, Walter Charles - M. Renaud, Merle Louise - Mme. Dindon, John Weiner - Jean-Michael, Leslie Stevens - Anne. Original Broadway cast. Recorded shortly after the show opened on 8/21/83. Nicely filmed from the balcony with surprising clarity, but there are many heads in the shot. Filmer does a great job of shooting around the heads, but occasionally they block the action onstage. Quality: B-)

Last Five Years, The (24 may 2014. New Haven, CT. Starring: Katie Rose Clarke, Adam Halpin. Very good capture, filmed in 16: 9 with mostly mediums and close-ups, and a few wides here and there and shot fairly close to the stage so the picture is extra clear and steady with no washout. A couple heads that can be seen at the bottom of the screen occasionally, but they never block the action and a couple of very quick dropouts in the first three minutes. Includes curtain call. Quality: A-)

 

Last Five Years, The (14 may 2016. San Francisco, CA. Starring: Zak Resnick, Margo Seibert. Very well captured with no blackouts and just some slight washout in a couple wider shots. One head on the left side that leans in occasionally, but is worked around well when necessary. Filmed in 16: 9, in mostly mediums and close-ups, with the occasionally wider shot. Excellent clear sound. Quality: A)

Beautiful HD Broadway performance with no obstructions, of Sting's new musical. Several changes to the show since the Chicago premiere, including the addition of Sting's " All This Time". Cast: Michael Esper, Rachel Tucker, Sting, Fred Applegate, Aaron Lazar, Sally Ann Triplett, Collin Kelly-Sordelet, Dawn Cantwell, Eric Anderson, Craig Bennett, Shawna M Hamic, Rich Hebert, Leah Hocking, Jamie Jackson, Matthew Stocke. Nice capture of Sting's run before the show closed. No washout and just one blackout at the beginning of act two for Mrs. Dees' Rant and a couple other quick dropouts, and a couple heads at the bottom that occasionally block the actor's feet but are rarely noticeable. Excellent clear sound. Quality: A-. 2DVD)
